Permit Information and Forms

Building Permits & Inspections is a division of Community Services. They review all permit applications to see that they meet the requirements and codes adopted by the Village.  They are responsible for inspecting at the determined intervals, the construction as described in the permit to verify that it is built according to the approved plans.  They also coordinate feedback from all departments and maintain all records associated with the permit from application to occupancy.

For larger projects, new homes or additions and all commercial and multi-family projects. Our goal is to have these reviewed in 10 business days.

All contractors and/or homeowners who wish to submit a residential or commercial/multi-family building permit application must attend a pre-submittal meeting with the Permit Control Coordinator.   Please contact Mary May at (847) 359-9037 for more specific information.

Effective, January 1st 2016, the State of Illinois adopted the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code. The Law requires all new commercial and residential construction for which a building permit application is received by a municipality or county to follow a comprehensive statewide energy conservation code. Renovations, alterations, additions, and repairs to most existing commercial and residential buildings must follow the Illinois Energy Conservation Code.
